About Us

Sara Kaufman

Sara Kaufman

Sara has been developing export markets for clients for over 25 years.  Her wide range of interests and experiences give her a unique approach to market and brand development.  She has been involved in all aspects of international trade and is well versed in logistics, brand development, and distributor support.  Sara combines this business experience with her knowledge of pet food formulas, ingredients, packaging, and quality.  Sara manages our markets in Southeast Asia and Europe.  When not snowboarding, kayaking, or wakeboarding, Sara is usually found near pet industry trade shows on the nearest dance floor (or table).

David Weil

David spent six years in Taiwan studying and working where he had his first exposure to international trade.  Since returning to the US in 1985, he has worked with companies in a variety of industries developing export and import programs.  Since 2000, David has focused exclusively on the pet industry and especially on the export of quality North American pet foods and the development of overseas markets for a number of brands.  He is also familiar with import regulations and works with a number of overseas pet food and treat manufacturers both for import into the US and for export to third countries. David manages our markets in Northeast Asia and China. When not working, David can usually be found drinking bourbon or rye.

Sara Heinrichs

Sara Heinrichs

Sara manages day-to-day business with a focus on order processing, logistics, and yes, claims processing (it happens).  Sara has established strong working (and personal) relationships with manufacturers, freight forwarders, and overseas distributors. She is known as “The Other Sara” or “Junior” around the office and around the world.  If you want something done, Sara is the go-to-person at GDM.  In the fall and winter, Sara is busy coaching girls high school basketball.  While we do not know if family or Kentucky Wildcat basketball is number one in her heart, we do know that Cincinnati Reds baseball is a close third.

Laura Berger

Laura joined GDM with a varied background in Human Resources, Teaching Preschool, and Personal Organizing; the perfect background for us at GDM (especially the preschool teaching).  Laura’s primary responsibilities at GDM are the preparation of registration documents and export health certificates but Laura can also handle order processing and logistics.  Laura’s diagnosed CDO (that’s OCD with the letters in alphabetical order) ensure that she keeps us organized and focused.  In her spare time, Laura can be seen refilling her label maker, lining up the pens in her desk drawer, and wondering when she can change the company name to DGM.
