Possible East Coast Port Strike in the US & Canada

We have learned that longshoreman all along the East Coast of North America, from Nova Scotia to Texas, may go on strike when their current contract expires on 30 September 2012.  This would especially be a problem for shipments headed for Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.  But, it would also affect shipments bound for Asia and Oceania as many containers will be diverted to West Coast ports.

In light of this, we suggest checking current inventories and ordering sufficient products to reduce the chances of running out of stock on any foods, treats, etc.

GDM will continue to monitor the situation and hope for the best.  We will also do our best to get orders out as quickly as possible and to secure containers and space on vessels for all our shipments.  But, should there be a strike, we do anticipate quite a lot of delays on shipments leaving from the West Coast.
